The Real Deal
This has quickly become the only general use cordage that I will buy. This is real deal mil-spec parachute cord. I've been highly impressed with the reliability and ruggedness of this product. If you want a general use cordage that you can truly rely on, this is the stuff to buy. Hands down the best cordage of its kind that I've found.

Type 4 Para cord advantages
Besides the obvious advantage of 200 more pounds of lifting power,I have found that the extra Dia. is easier to handle and has less tendency to tangle. It is like the difference between handling rope and handling sting. Though many people conceder 550 cord to be optimal for strength/weight and occupied space in your ruck. I recommend the upgrade to type 4 just for the little bit of edge that you might need in a given situation . Also you might conceder that when making your bracelets, depending on how tight you brad ,up to 1ft will be added to the overall length of cord.

Type IV compared to Type III
This is top notch cord that conforms to the Type IV spec [...] . Even the best quality Type III cord that I have been using for years is significantly different. The Type IV is slightly thicker, heavier, and not as flexible as Type III. It is also clearly stronger as the spec says, 750 lbs with 11 strands compared to 550 lbs with 7 strands in most of the Type III that you can get. The Type III cord is much less tightly packed inside of the sheath so that it flattens out much more than the Type IV does when it is braided or wrapped around something. If you are doing something that is really pulling hard on the cord, the Type IV will give you that extra measure of confidence that it will not break and given the same load it will stretch less. I recently participated in a heat stroke evacuation off of a mountain using an expedient stretcher. I had lengths of both the Type III 550 and the Type IV 750 in my pack. Honestly they would both probably have worked fine, but I chose the Type IV to use. When you really need it, you want to have the best, and this stuff is it.

Buy this cord!
Top notch cord. Just received a 100 ft of the desert sand and I'm very satisfied. As others have already mentioned the size to strength ratio is great for a variety of tasks. I like that it's made in the USA which unfortunately isnt too common these days.
